The Mayflower, Pilgrims, Plymouth and the Thanksgiving Celebration.

Long ago, in 1620 English people came to America looking for freedom of religion. There were 102 English who after some time were known as "Pilgrims". There were women, men, kids and old people in the group. They crossed the ocean in a ship called the Mayflower. They arrived to the New World (America) and they settled down. They found indians. There was one indian called Squanto who was a Wampanoag who had experience with other settlers and knew English. Squanto helped the settlers grow corn and use fish to fertilize their fields. Thanks to this, Pilgrims were able to live and found plymouth. In order to celebrate the success of the founding and in order to thank the indians for their help they celebrated with a big feast. That day, Indians and Pilgrims celebrated the First Thanksgiving by sharing a nice feast. Since then, this moment has been remembered every year by the American community by sharing this day with family and friends.
